-
Start with the contact information
Include your full name, phone number, work e-mail address and location (city and country) at the top of your resume.
-
Write a meaningful personal statement
Include a short personal statement or professional summary outlining your skills, experience and career goals. Keep it short: 3 to 4 sentences should suffice.
-
Go into detail about your professional experience
List your most recent position first, followed by previous positions in reverse chronological order. For each position, include the job title, company name, date of employment and a few bullet points describing your most important duties and accomplishments.
-
Emphasize your skills
Create a section where you list the most important skills that match the job you are applying for. This could be technical skills, language skills or soft skills such as communication and problem solving.
-
Education and certificates
List your most recent or relevant educational qualifications. Indicate your degree, the institution and the date of training. If you have any certifications or specialized training, list them here as well.
-
Present achievements and project
Include any professional achievements or specific projects that demonstrate your influence and expertise.
-
Add a section for references (optional)
References are not always required, but you can provide them if you have people who can vouch for your skills. Otherwise, you can simply write: “References available on request”.
-
Adapt your CV to the position in question
Customize your resume to highlight the most important skills and experience for each job you apply for. This shows employers that you have done your research and are taking the job seriously.
-
Keep it short and professional
Aim for a 1-2 page resume and make sure the layout is clear and easy to read. Use bullet points, clear headings and professional fonts such as Arial or Times New Roman.
